Pacific University is a private university located in Forest Grove, which is a city in Washington County, in the US state of Oregon, with a population of more than 20 700 inhabitants, at the time of the 2007 census.
The university was established in 1849 and was founded by the United Church of Christ (UCC). Through its colleges and schools, along with several special programs, it offers its students various educational opportunities, at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, consistently receiving high ratings in the category of private regional liberal arts universities with a limited range of graduate programs, at the graduate level, being probably best known for its College of Optometry.
Pacific's athletic teams are known as the Boxers and they compete in NCAA Division III, as members of the Northwest Conference. Their distinctive colors are red and black.
